The primary purpose of Liberty Communications, LLC is to support those who serve in uniform – past, present and future – while instilling traditional American values. Camp Liberty is a special place, dedicated to the men and women of the Armed Forces and First Responders, who epitomize the American Spirit! Camp Liberty is owned by Liberty Communications, LLC, a Delaware Limited Liability Corporation, registered as a foreign corporation in the State of Alabama.

The company provides a variety of educational and consulting services, in partnership with the non-profit Liberty Leadership Institute (an Alabama 501(c)3). We are home to the world-renown Extreme Military Challenge!, providing introductory training for young men and women who are interested in a potential uniformed career, or desire a challenge within a highly structured environment.

Camp Liberty is owned by Liberty Communications, LLC, a Service Connected Disabled Veteran-owned business.  Liberty Communications was formed in 1999.  Specifically, the name was chosen to honor the service of former Master Sergeant Joseph W. Crawford, the late grandfather of Joseph M. Land, Sr., the President of Liberty Communications.

The name Liberty Communications is a tribute to the men and women – past and present - who have served as members of the Armed Forces.

MSG J. W. Crawford
WWII, 101st ABN Div.

A proud patriot, MSG Crawford served in the 101st Airborne - the Screamin' Eagles - during World War II. He was captured and held as a Prisoner of War. After 29 days of captivity, he was liberated by the allies and returned to his unit. MSG Crawford received the Bronze Star (two awards), Prisoner of War Medal, Combat Infantry Badge and several other personal and unit awards during his years of service to our country.

Subsequent to his military service, Mr. Crawford worked for the railroad industry.  He rose from shoveling coal to becoming the Engineer.  Over a 30+ year career, he retired as a Vice President of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers.

Mr. Crawford passed away in 2014 at the age of 93.
He was buried in uniform with military honors.
